The 1999 14th. Annual World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook off was held at the Northwest Community Center Pavilion Sunday, March 28, 1999 in Eunice Louisiana. There were three categories of cook-off participants. The categories were Amateur, Professional and Club/Organization. The competition this year was stiff. Through the day, musicians performed for the listening and dancing pleasure of visitors from all around. There were visitors and competitors from all over Louisiana and other states as well. This event was free to the public.

     This year, Eunice was fortunate to have a special space shuttle exhibit. The John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Miss., NASA's lead center for rocket propulsion testing and commercial remote sensing, brought the space exhibits to Eunice. On exhibit was a 1/15th-scale model of the Space Shuttle complete with external tank and solid rocket boosters. Examples of the food the astronauts take with them into orbit were on hand, as well as the equipment they use in space. Stennis Space Center also had a team entered in the cook off contest.

     Guest were entertained by great French music groups throughout the day. There was music performed by Don Fontenot & les Amis de la Louisianne, Kenneth Thibodeaux & Cajun Dance and the last band that played for the event was Paul Daigle & Cajun Gold.

     Then, at the heart of this event was cooking, cooking and even more cooking. There were a total of 37 teams in the three categories cooking crawfish at this years event. All were viewing to earn this years "Bragging Rights" as the World Champion Crawfish Etouffee Cook. The competition was stiff and the judging was hard but our judges have come through again and we have our winners for this years competition. Below is this years list of winners.
