The 19th annual World's
Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-Off was a huge success this year. This year
the cook-off was held in downtown Eunice for the second year in a row. There were
over 40 teams competing for the top trophies at the cook-off this year. The crowd
was large with many visitors from throughout the United States. The samples of
etouffee were ready to eat early, starting around 10:00 am. The taste of the
etouffee was as varied as the variety of people there.
The weather was
beautiful the whole day. Better weather couldn't have been ordered for the
event. It was sunny with a slight overcast. The temperature averaged in the mid
70's with a light breeze throughout the day.
Music was
provided throughout the day by Jo Jo
Reed & The Happy Hill Playboys,
Second
Hand Smoke and Steve
Riley & The Mamou Playboys. There was a variety of
music available to please music lovers of many genres of music. The Happy Hill
Playboys provided us with zydeco music, Second Hand Smoke played classic rock
and Steve Riley played cajun french music.
Trophies for the
winners were awarded at 3:00 pm. A new category was added to the competition
this year. The new category was the competition between
area towns. The only entrants allowed to enter were area towns. The result is
listed below. Music and dancing continued until 6:00 pm.
Plenty of music and food was enjoyed by all that attended. All the winners are
listed below.
