CITY OF EUNICE, LA. PERSONAL PROFILE Dennis McGee - Composer, fiddler, and vocalist McGee recorded for the Vocalion, Brunswick, Melotone, and Swallow labels. Among his recordings is the classic "Madame Young donnez moi votre plus jolie blonde" (1929), which borrowed the tune of the popular Cajun song "Allons danser Colinda." McGee influenced younger generations of Cajun musicians, and shortly before his death was named Honorary Dean of Cajun Music by the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He died in 1989.

Composer, fiddler, and vocalist Dennis McGee was born on January 26, 1893, and grew up in L’Anse des Rougeaux, near Eunice. He performed during the 1920s and 1930s with noted black Creole accordionist Amédé Ardoin, and for decades with fellow Cajun fiddler and brotherinlaw Sady Courville.
